What personality traits do you associate with Scorpios? (Belief in astrology not required to answer.)

There are various personality traits / stereotypes that people associate with the various zodiac signs. So, what are Scorpios “known” for? Do you believe those associations to be accurate? I’m asking more from a general perception perspective and less from an astrology perspective, but all perspectives are welcome.
