How do you remove a 1/2 inch splinter from under a finger nail?

….I’m about to go to urgent care tomorrow, it hurts so bad…i could not imagine getting fingernail tourture….I actually cried for 30 minutes when I first felt it in there.
The exposed splinter already is broken off, I’ve tried drawing salve last night…soaking it in vinegar….
