Why is this Garmin model better?

I am trying to get my husband a GPS for Christmas. I have read comparison charts on Amazon and here but I am lost.

I have found a 205 on sale for $89 (originally $159), a 265W for $119 (originally $229) and a 1300 for $139 (originally $199).

The 1300 is clearly a newer model, but I don’t see that it has anything the 265W has other than being thinner and lighter. I don’t even know what features are really necessary. Help?
