When hanging with your friends, how do you make plans?

I’ve hung out with different groups but the people I’m closest with make it an effort to figure out rides and all that when we make plans. We also make sure everyone knows what time and where etc etc. But with some other groups people don’t call when they say they will and just expect you to show up somewhere even when they didn’t precisely tell you the time. I find the plan-making ways of the latter group really frustrating and annoying.

For example: A friend called me to tell me a group was going to see a movie, possibly at 10pm but she wasn’t sure and said she’d call me. Then at 10 I hear nothing and I call and she says “We’re here! Where are you?” ARGH.
