Do you, or have you ever, just stopped, memorized what was around you specifically for the purpose of pulling it out at some unknown time in the future, to use as comparison?

When I was in my late teens, in the 70’s, I was walking up to my friends trailer house. It was late December, and the weather was absolutely beautiful. It was so warm I didn’t need a jacket, and that’s very unusual for December in Kansas. I stopped and thought, “I’m going to remember this day so that if in the future people say ‘It’s ALWAYS cold in December,’ I can say, ‘Not always!’”
Or, 20 years down the road, if someone says, “This is REALLY strange weather we’re having for December!” I could say, “Oh, not normal, but not strange either!”

If I hadn’t made the point of clamping that day in my mind, I probably wouldn’t have remembered it, and think that warm days in December are “Weird, and is this because of global warming???”

I also clamp other memories in my mind because I know how they can change over the years.
