What is a great device and/or method to store fine cheese?

Asked by wildpotato (15224points) December 7th, 2009

I just thought of a perfect gift for my dad, but I’m not sure it exists yet. He buys fine cheeses impulsively, every single time he goes to the farmer’s market (which is usually daily). So my parents have about ten different types of really great cheese in their fridge at any given time, in various stages of moldification. These are usually hard to medium soft – very rarely spreadables like brie or Camembert.

I’ve glanced at the tupperwares and the keeper/slicer they’ve got on amazon, but am not crazy about either of those. Has anyone tried one of these? Any good? In any event, my budget for this is $35ish, though if I see something that’s worth it I’m willing to part with a bit more.

This is my first foray into the serious cheesophile world, so I’m sure some of you have more and better knowledge than I. Will you share your suggestions?
