What do I do with a tv that has broken down after only 2 years? (more details enclosed)

My husband and I bought a tv in NZ 2 years ago, things didn’t work out as planned whilst we were over there (we missed home too much) so we moved back to the UK. We have an extended warranty on the tv, which states that if the item breaks down we have to pay postage to the nearest store to get it looked at by an approved engineer (in this case we’ll have to post to Southern Ireland) this will cost in the region of £400 for a round trip. Is there anything we can do? Should Panasonic be held accountable as the tv is only 2 years old? They state that they could send out an engineer in the uk, but the insurance company won’t recognise their work as they are not approved by their company.
Do I have any more rights as a customer that is not happy her tv has stopped working after 2 years?

What is really annoying is that someone has very kindly loaned us a tv that is 11 years old cost a fraction of the price and is still going strong!
