How far back into the past do you recognize yourself?

How far do you need to look before you don’t recognize yourself as making decisions. How far does it need to be before you wonder what you were thinking.
For me it’d be 2 years. Seeing as I am only 20 I was wondering if this is a product of my young age, or if this is the common timespan.
