How does one recover from a cold?

So, I have contracted a cold and it is kicking my butt. I am taking cold pills like nobody’s business, taking vitamin C in the same manner and avoiding dairy. Does the collective know anything else I can do to get better? I would very much like to get better by Monday but I think I need to step up the getting better routine.
