Did you give someone a gift this year that was really well received?

I’m not a big fan of reserving one day a year to spend money on people. If there’s something I want to buy for someone, I’ll buy it any time of the year. And, if there’s something I want for myself, I’ll buy it; I don’t expect someone else to buy it for me. It just seems manipulative to expect/require people to spend for Christmas. (But, that’s just me.)

Be that as it may, I found myself looking at a mobile GPS unit that was on sale, thinking it would be a perfect gift for my wife’s niece. My wife was against such a purchase, but this particular unit happened to fall within the price range my wife and I had agreed to spend on her. (As it turned out, I purchased a more expensive model since I questioned the reliability of the one on sale.)

My wife’s niece loved it…so much so that she called me the next morning praising it’s performance in helping her navigate to a destination 115 miles away. (I knew she liked to travel but…DAMN!)
