If you were charged with a misdeamonor domestic violence can you still become a teacher?

Ten years ago I was charged with a misdemeanor 5 domestic violence. I shoved my husband at the time(he is now my ex), and he had me arrested for domestic violence. I am now going to school to become a teacher and one of my classes require me to get a criminal back round check so I can observe in a school classroom. My domestic violence will show up…so now I am wondering what I should do?? Can I even become a teacher with a charge like that? I have put so much work into this degree and now this!
