How to keep daffodil bulbs?

I just got today some daffodil bulbs from a friend. Since I don’t think this is planting season (I live in Southern VA) what should I do to keep the daffodil bulbs? (No my friend didn’t know what to do – she had gotten them from someone else). Any thoughts are appreciated!
