Can you give an example of a time when you "splurged" on a purchase and found it to be very much worth it?

What was the item or experience that you bought? What made it better than lower-cost alternatives—if such alternatives exist? (I know that the idea of a “splurge” is subjective. Your splurge just has to be a splurge from your perspective, not from anyone else’s.)
