Is it true that if you had a certain hair color as a child, that it will look good as an adult?

I’ve been told many times that if you had blond hair (or any other color) as a child, that it will naturally look good as an adult, even if your hair color changed as you aged.
Does anyone know if stylists/hairdressers actually say this? Or is it one of those weird, random myths?
