At an Emergency Room, will they spot THC (main psychoactive substance of marijuana) in standard blood and urine tests? If so, what are the consequences?

My friend is in the hospital now, with intense abdominal pain. He called me from the emergency room asking if he should submit urine and blood. He smokes marijuana a few times a week, so he’s worried about what will happen if it shows up in his medical tests.

Is THC something that comes up in the results of standard medical tests or something they must actively test for? If they do find THC in his blood/urine, are there any legal consequences (meaning, does it have to be reported to the police or is it noted somewhere on his medical record)?
