Would I be able to safely shrink an 50/50 acryllic/cotton sweater in the mircowave?

I don’t own a dryer.　　I really like this sweater and after a few wearings it gets stretched out.　I want to restore it to that nice snug fit　　But would I be able to wash a sweater in a basin full of hot water and then put it in the microwave for a little bit to shrink it?

I’m sure if I keep it in for too long something bad will happen.

But say for a minute or two and then hang dry it in the sun.

Would it work and more importantly would it not be ruined?

If it would work, what would be a good way to go about it?
