What are your thoughts on a 1993 Jeep Cherokee, 160,000 miles?

My daughter, who has two small children who need to be ferried back and forth to school, Dr.s appointments, etc., has been without a car for almost nine months. Not good.

She got her tax return, has $1500 to spend. We’ve been car shopping intensively for the last three days. My son went to Wichita with her yesterday, and she seems to want to settle on this 1993 Jeep Cherokee. She talked the guy down from $1500 to $1300. My son seems to feel he’s a big car expert (OK, he’s a 10 in all areas, but he is a bit over confident at times) and he says those vehicles run forever with little maintenance, and are easy to work on.

I haven’t seen or driven the vehicle myself, so that’s all I know. I did some checking online, and the results seemed fairly favorable, but I’d like some first hand experience stories, if you have any.

And I just blew through my daily quota of questions in a mere 1900 seconds! Is that some kind of record?? :)
