How do you manage/monitor your online presence?

Having been active on the Internet for 10+ years, I’ve managed to build up a decently sized digital footprint/presence that is mostly personal life (including all of my teenage years) and not academic/professional in nature. I have now begun to build a more professional web presence, but so much of the Internet seems to blur the line between professional and personal.

I do Google my real name and my primary handle on a semi-regular basis to monitor what information is out there about me, and I have been careful to make sure that there is nothing incriminating/terribly embarrassing out there.

What are some steps that others take to monitor, if not restrict access to, one’s online presence while still being authentic? Different usernames on different sites? Fake names/locations for personal activities (which is how I handled these issues as a minor)?
