Why are PC users so adamant about having their laptops always plugged in?

Asked by Spargett (5395points) March 2nd, 2008

I work from home, so I usually try to escape “same four walls syndrome” by hitting some local coffee shops. Therefor I see alot of people coming and going with their laptops.

One thing always remains consistent. As soon as someone whips out a PC the immediately begin their search for a power source, even asking people who are already plugged in if they can use that power source, all before they’ve even turned on their computer. While most Mac users don’t seem very concerned, usually doing their work without a power source by default and only plugging in after they’ve been there for a while, assuming their battery is dead.

I don’t really have any experience with PC laptops, so is there something I don’t know? Keep in mind, this is an overwhelmingly consistent trend I notice on a daily basis.

P.S. I’m not saying this has anything to do with who’s cooler or not. So lets nip that argument in the butt right now.
