Is there any way around a Windows 'not compatable' message?

I have an old file that I’m unable to put on my computer. When I try, I get the message that it’s not compatible with my version of Windows Vista.Vista is 64 x and my old pc was 32 x. I really would like the file. Am I out of luck?
