Best small mp3 player for running < $60?

1gb iPod shuffle stolen, looking for something else with good sound quality, under $60, has 1–2gb storage and which can easily sync with iTunes. iPod Nano seems too expensive to take around running; need something that can withstand a drop or two every now and then (which my old shuffle could do). New iPod shuffle is $59 but has terrible reviews since you have to use Apple’s headphones and apparently these stop working when exposed to any moisture (e.g. sweat). Old iPod shuffle available on Amazon but it’s a bit expensive $80, and I’m skeptical of buying on craigslist since I’d have no idea what kind of condition they’d be in. Any help would be appreciated.
