Most people have a very different view of themselves than what they see in a picture or mirror. Who we are is not always determined by our appearance——hence the saying: “Appearances are deceiving.” Also, when we look in the mirror, as the late Michael Jackson described in his song—“The Man in the Mirror,” it is often a time to assess who we are.
