I need to know the dirt cheapest way to get from Brattleboro VT to NYC.

I hope to travel between Brattleboro VT and NYC a lot next fall, so I need a way to cut down on gas prices. I don’t travel much (read: at all) so I could really use some help. I’ll take bus, train, whatever, and I’ll gladly transfer mid-route.

Comfort isn’t so much of an issue for me (though it may be for others, so give me fair warning.) Speed is an issue, but it comes up second to cost.

Also, on trips from Brattleboro to NYC it’s possible for me to drive home to the Amherst / Northampton of MA, leave my car and catch a bus or a train from around there, if that could somehow lessen the cost.

If any of you are willing to help me out I’ll be much obliged.
