Why the lion is the king of jungle not the tiger?

As we know many people like to assume lion as the king of the jungle,some say it’s tiger. We know that lion do not live in jungle(except the Asiatic lion,and they’re not the biggest anyway). Tiger live in jungle,and they’re far bigger and stronger. In reality the fight between this two creature will most likely be won by the tiger(assume both from the same sex,the biggest sub species,same condition,etc). So why many people tend to say that lion is the king of jungle? Don’t tell me it’s because they posses the mane that makes them look like kings).

PS:I never encourage fight between species,we just need to make rational prediction.
