Would high heels and a short dress be too inappropriate for prom?

Yeah, not sure how to ask this right, but here goes:

I’m your typical teenage dork going to prom. I usually dress pretty conservatively, so I’m freaking out about whether my chosen ensemble for the night is inappropriate or not.

I have a short strapless dress (about 3” past my fingertips, 2” above center of knee) and heels (3.5”). I’m 5’8” (bare feet, keep on worrying the heels will make me tower over everyone else). I want to know if this is too inappropriate…I know a lot of people will be wearing short dresses instead of the long formal ones, so that isn’t an issue, but is the strapless and short dress and high heels too much?

Like I said, I am a pretty conservative-dressing dorky kind of kid, so it’s also that the whole dress and heels thing is a lot different than what most people are used to for me. Am I just being paranoid?
