(NSFW) What do drugs do to you mentally/physically in that period of time?

I was thinking about it the other day, when I was listening to some oldies music. I remembered my mom (a baby-boomer) saying that most of it was written while people were high on LSD, acid, marjuana, etc.

So… I was wondering. What does it do to you in that specific moment? What do you feel? What is it like? What happens to your mind?
