What shoes would go well with dresses while not killing my feet?

I often wear dresses and skirts for work. I love ladies shoes with heels. I seem to have overdone wearing the high heels and being on my feet for long periods. It feels like I have tendonitis in my achilis tendon or something. My dogs ache and I need to put the spikey pretty high heels away and find something sensible for a while. What shoes would be comfy but still dressy enough to wear with skirts? Sneakers would be too casual and would look odd. I want something pretty and comfy. Any recommendations?
