I was rooting around in my (deceased) father's stuff and now have a fish hook stuck in my brand new rayon shirt. How do I get it out?

Please don’t mod me. This is a real problem. Fisherpeople, you must have encountered this problem before. How do I get the fish hook out of my shirt without destroying it, the shirt or the hook. Do I have to cut the hook? Is that the only way? It’s a perfectly good hook and lure except that it’s stuck in my shirt. It’s not like he’s going to need the hook or be angry at me for ruining it but is that, cutting it, the only way out of this?
