Living without modern amenities?

Are there any modern conveniences that you live without? Do you choose to live without them (why?) , or is it a matter of necessity (financial or otherwise)? Do you miss or wish you had these things?
For example, my husband and I live in a century home… which needed & still needs a lot of work. So we don’t have air conditioning because it will require a major renovation. Also, we don’t have a bathroom with a shower. Both are examples of something that are difficult for us to have right now, but we’d like to at some point. However, we don’t have cable/satellite, a garbage disposal, an ice maker, and we almost never buy paper towels. We get along fine without those things, and I don’t think we’d ever go out of our way to get them.
