I'm having trouble recieving a direct deposit into my account, what should I do?

I called the sender and they confirmed that it was sent a week ago to my account, but it’s not in my account yet. I’ve talked to the bank and the sender, and I’m getting the run-around. Why would it take this long for this deposit to go through? It’s the first time using Direct Deposit, and the bank is telling me to just wait, but I need my cash. Thanks
