Can anyone recommend a good way to give a dog a pill? And/or herbal tinctures?

Okay…my dog is not too chipper. I have to give her tablets three times a day. It’s serious as I almost lost her. She is a small dog, so there is no big Lab mouth you can tickle and toss something in. She is really bright and can suss out that I have hidden something in any treat I give her. She used to take her meds in liver pate…yeah, I know…but not anymore as she is on to that. She just refuses meds in anything…meat, non-meat, ice cream, I’ve tried anything….any ideas? I cannot attempt to pry open her mouth because she has trachea trouble and I don’t want to exacerbate that. And it’s a tiny mouth to boot.

Also, I hope to be transitioning her into herbal medicine…tinctures, mainly. So, suggestions on how to give her tinctures would be helpful, too.

I would appreciate any suggestions.
