What was the worst date you ever went on?

For me, it was with my prom date who I didn’t know very well. After it’d been established that we were gonna go to prom together, we’d hung out in my group of friends a couple times but didn’t talk much. He was always super awkward and didn’t know how to handle the ladies. Consequently, he was anything but suave with me. I always bounce off the vibes of other people, so I felt uncomfortable too. Eventually he got the balls to ask me to the movies. I agreed, seeing little alternative—I was going to prom with the kid, I may as well try and warm up to him, but I just knew it was going to be horrible. My expectations were met. He was no less awkward than usual, and his driving was terrible. He drove like an old man, super slow and rapidly moving the wheel back and forth like they do in cartoons. During the movie, I kept my arms crossed because I didn’t want him to try to make any moves. The whole time, I just felt mildly repulsed. Afterwards we waited for my friend to get out of work (the theater was in an outlet mall), but it took her about a half hour to come out. This was an excruciating 30 mins; the guy and I had nothing to say to each other. When my friend finally came, the 3 of us headed to a small party, where everyone knew about the date and asked us about it. I wanted to crawl in a hole and die. I was embarrassed by the speculation and attention, and pretty embarrassed of my date by that point. Everyone who I spoke to seemed to subtly poke fun at me about my nerdy date and it just got to me (when he was absent of course). When he dropped me off, he walked me to my porch (even though I tried to give him a hug in the car), and the goodbye was just awkward as hell. I hugged him, he tried to kiss me; it ended up somewhere on the side of my head. I walked into the house and just wanted to cry, it was all so awful. And with that I entreat you all to share your experiences as well!
