What is it about the Arts and Music that reaches across time and cultures?

When you look across history and across the world, there is one constant, Art and Music. Music is part of the Arts but I think a big enough part to be addressed on its own. Why is that and what connects all of us to this. Cavemen drew on the walls, ancient cultures had music, and it just is such a part of life. What is it about three cords and rhythm? Unfortunately, I thought of one other constant, war. You can comment on that too if you’d like.
