Which book is the start of the True Blood series?

By the time you read this, I’ll have finished watching the first two seasons of True Blood. So, now I want to read the books. Should I start with the first one, or would that be redundant? (I do know the show kinda follows the books, but apparently there are glaring differences.) Can anyone guide me as to which one to start with?
