Kwanzen Cherry with dying branches. Prune?

I have a young (9years) kwanzen cherry tree that suddenly has once healthy branches whithering and dying. It started out with one branch that I pruned to the trunk. Now I have three more. I sprayed for borers and will prune these branches. The rest of the tree appears healthy and I will have the arborist come and look at it. Has anyone else had something like this happen?
