What should I do about my job?

Asked by rebeccan01218 (59points) July 16th, 2010

I work in management at a hospital where I manage the doctors and patients, coordinating and monitoring their care. It is good job, but is very stressful. Patients are always yelling, refusing to be discharged, threatening to sue if they dont get what they want. The doctors treat you like dirt as well. It is supposed to be a high conflict job. When its bad, its REALLY bad. People use personal attacks and by the end of the day, Im crying and feel overwhelmed. Today, a doctor was talking bad about me with a cowroker. His patients niece, a young girl who was very nasty to the staff, told the doctor she didnt like me and he it looked like he was trying to come on to her. He was gossiping about me with her and other hospital staff. He is angry with me and blames me for her unhappiness with the hospital. The doctor is a known womanizer, and used to come on to me but I ignored him. However, in addition to blaming me for his problem patients he told my co worker that ’ my tops are too low and that I get offended when he looks at my body’. I dont know what he is talking about, really! I wear a long lab coat which covers me up. I need advice on how to handle these issues with the patients and with this doctor, so Im not crying at the end of the day. There are not many stable jobs like this one, and I went to school 4 years past college for this!
