How do I choose makeup for covering up a black eye?

Let me preface this question with what some will undoubtedly be curious about: The black eye didn’t come from anything nefarious, I just train MMA and got a quick pop to the eye during boxing.

Normally I don’t care if I get a black eye, but I have to take a picture this Saturday with my wife’s family! To make matters worse my wife is out of town until the day just before the picture, so I’m completely on my own figuring out this whole makeup deal.

Any help from the ladies or makeup experts or Hollywood monster mask makers is appreciated.
