Is it technically illegal to NOT inform the cable company they didn't disconnect?

I moved into a rental and the cable was connected, i assume the company forgot to disconnect and I am getting free cable. I am going to just leave it but I’m curious technically from a legal standpoint do I have to inform the cable company? Shoulden’t it be their responsibility to look out for their lines?
