Why is it such a pain to take a self portrait with the iPhone?!

I find it extremely awkward to take pics because of where the picture taking button is located. Plus, I have to hold the phone SO steady and try to snap a pic. It sucks! Anyone else feel the same or know of a way to make it easier?
