Any suggestions on how to keep that darn woodchuck from eating my green tomatoes?

I have a nice compost pile out in the corner of the yard that he is free to dine at, and he does, but it seems he likes my green grape tomatoes and my morning glory vines better than old sweet corn and wilted lettuce.
I have seen him chomping on my veggies and flowers. I shooed him, and cursed him. I’m ready to get out the shotgun. Any ideas on how I get him to leave my garden alone?
