Can a t-shirt made out of PET melt in the dryer?

Asked by Carly (4555points) August 19th, 2010

I just bought a backpack mostly made out of Polyethylene terephthalate. I don’t plan on washing/drying this, but I’ve noticed that there are some companies who make clothes out with a mixture of PET and other normal fabrics (ie. cotton).

If PET is recycled plastic fibers, could a t-shirt made of it possibly melt or warp if I put it in the dryer?
