What do you think the consequences should be if it is found out that Libya paid the British for the release from prison of the Lockerbie bomber?

When the Lockerbie bomber was released from prison, a doctor’s report said he had prostate cancer and had only months to live. He was released on compassionate grounds, and went home to Libya, presumably to die. Now, a year later, he is still alive. The US government is doing an investigation into the doctor’s report, alleged payoff of the British government for his release, and BP Oil’s involvement in the release. I believe there is something in there about BP wanting oil from Libya, too. The US government wants Libya to return him so he can do the remainder of his life sentence.

what do you think should be the consequences if it is found out that he was released as part of a payoff deal?
