What are your thoughts on what this woman did & the resultant "outcry"?

The woman has said it was “just a joke” & “can’t see what all the fuss is about” She has received death threats from as afar afield as Australia!!! Now i’m no cat lover, not in the least, but this!!! Just wondered how you feel about it from both points of view i.e what she did & the reaction to it. Thanks.
