What is the shortest plane ride available?

I know this is a weird question but I am thinking about taking a job that is 3½ hrs away from NYC by car. My only worry is being able to get to NY a couple times per month to see my daughter and take care of personal business. Driving in bad winter weather may pose a risk. Are there flights for very short distances like what I’m talking about? I’m assuming that if it takes 3½ hrs by car that a plane ride would be about 15–30 minutes? What do you guys say?
