What led up to your first recreational drug experience?

Recreational drugs, in my mind, include tobacco, marijuana, opiates, ecstatics, and whatever else people use purely for the purpose of changing their mood or feelings or perceptions.

I’m interested in the situation associated with your first experience. Where were you? Who else was there? What were you doing in the significant period before the first experience? Significant might be an hour or it might be a year—depends on what you think is important in leading to this experience.
