Anyone know how to send a photo in an email so that it is in the body of the text and not as an attachment?

I want to send a photocard with a note on the card itself to some friends. Is there anyway to somehow put this photo into the email itself…so that when the email is opened the photo appears and not a blank sheet with attachment that needs to be opened? I use Google Mail.
