Has anyone tried the "Magic Cleanse" ?

Asked by Scarlett (915points) October 15th, 2010

Wondering if anyone has actually tried the “Magic Cleanse” ? If you guys don’t know, it’s a drink mixture of lemon juice and cayenne pepper, and if you drink it for 2 weeks it’s supposed to clean out your system and make you lose a lot of weight.

This isn’t for me I’m just curious in asking.

I know of people who have. They lose weight while they’re fasting, then they gain it back. (Assuming that you’re talking about the version where one fasts.) It won’t hurt you, but I don’t know if it will actually help.

“Clean out your system”? What does that mean?
Sounds like another quack remedy to get you to throw your money away at a useless weight loss product.

All it does is dehydrate you. Of course you lose weight, because you lose your water. And you gain it RIGHT BACK once you quit (and trust me, if you want to continue living, you will quit it)

I know quite a few people who did it. You get the shits and lose weight. Then you quit and gain it back.

Please just do me a favor (for your own sake), when you hear of a diet that just seems “that easy,” it’s because it’s too good to be true. (You know what they say about things that seem too good to be true)

In this case, the saying applies.

I have not tried it, but I suggest you discuss this with your doctor and see what she thinks.

And if your doctor recommends it, get a new doctor.
