In baseball after a strikeout why do fans always post at least one "K" backwards?

Asked by AstroChuck (37609points) October 17th, 2010 from iPhone

I don’t remember ever seeing a string of K’s at a ballpark where at least one wasn’t hung in reverse. It looks like a lemonade stand from an Our Gang short.

A backwards K means “strikeout while looking” i.e. The batter had two strikes and did not swing at a pitch in the strike zone. Strike three! Backwards K.

A regular K means “strikeout while swinging.” i.e. There were two strikes against a batter. The batter swings at a pitched ball and misses. Strike three! Regular K.
