What is the Dario Argento movie that has nested realities within realities?

Asked by ipso (4481points) October 30th, 2010

I remember a guy looking at a TV screen and the character thinking ~”Which level am I at?” I think it had to do with TV specifically, and the “pops” between levels would always happen with TV screens.

Artistically it was breaking down the notion if you the viewer were in the movie or not. Great stuff. A precursor to the movie Inception.

I don’t know if this was Argento, but I think for sure 80’s Italian Horror, and if not Argento, who?

Sounds like Videodrome.

I think it sounds more like TRON, but that’s not an Italian horror movie… it’s actually a science fiction Disney movie, lol.

Thanks for the ideas! Both great movies in their own right.

I don’t think it’s Argento. I’ve spent hours reading through every movie summary listed on this page and watching most of the trailers as well.

Maybe it’s one of these?”

Nope. None of these classics either:

They Live (1988)
Strange Days (1995)
Dreamscape (1984)
Brainstorm (1983)
