What happened us someone funded a script without an ending finished.

Winging it clearly didn’t work out in the end.

Maybe everyone who read the script was too pretentious to admit they didn’t get it. The irony is that it doesn’t make sense anyway.

I’m not sure it was supposed to make sense. I think the point of the movie is to look and feel like a movie but to lack the one underlying structure that makes it a film: plot continuity. I think that makes it a seminal pomo work, but a terrible movie. I am ok with that. I still like it for what it is.

Trying to figure it out is a waste of time. D Lynch even said that there wasn’t anything hidden

boy meets girl, boy loses girl, girl gets another boy, boy thinks of girl, girl dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Years Day.

Most of the movie appears kinda cheesy and fluffy, and it’s because it’s her reimagining the events how she wishes they happened. The end is the truth.

Our minds want it to work, but the fun is in not trying to make it work and just taking the ride.

The secret is behind the red curtains… just like in Twin Peaks.
